Is This The Year You Make Peace with Food and Body?

It all started after eating an entire box of giant cinnamon rolls from the bakery……

I remember shoving the box into the garbage, hoping no one was watching. Then I thought to myself:

"Is this how I want to spend the rest of my life?

Secretly bingeing on sweets?

Thinking about food and judging my body 90% of every day?

Waking up each morning in a cold sweat because I just remembered I ate apple pie the night before? And oh crap, it was A LA MODE!

When I realized my body was having the same stress response to ice cream as if I had just committed a heinous crime,  I knew that there had to be another way to live.

So after decades of chronic dieting, restricting, bingeing, calorie counting, guilt, poor body image, and a variety of health challenges, I committed myself to find a way to make peace with food and my body.

The work was not easy.  At first, it felt like I was giving up on creating a body I loved when I gave up on dieting. But it turned out it was the exact opposite.

Giving up dieting lead me to change my entire mindset about food and my body.

It led me to let go of old patterns of unworthiness and re-wire my brain with messages of self-care and positivity.

I never realized how many negative external messages I had absorbed about my body and food.

I also never realized how much I used food to cope, and soothe and entertain.

After many years of evolving and studying this issue, now I know what it takes to create a nourishing, sustainable, life-affirming relationship with the body.

My new relationship with my body is based on love, joy, freedom, and ease.  I never dreamed it could feel this good.

These days I use this knowledge and experience to help others cultivate a positive relationship with their body; focusing not only on the physical body, but also on the emotions, thoughts, beliefs, energy, and spiritual practices that affect our overall well-being.

As I said, this deep healing work is not easy, but it can be easier with guidance and support and someone to point out some of the red flags and pitfalls along the way.  Because the truth is…..you don’t have to do this alone.

My question for you today is: “What would it be like to wake up without thinking about what you are going to eat? And without any regrets about what you ate yesterday?”

How much time have you already lost focusing on food and judging yourself in what feels like an unbreakable cycle of guilt?

As one of my clients reported after a short time working together, “if I am not spinning out about diet and making up things about other peoples' thoughts and feelings....well there is certainly a lot more energy for my self-care and happiness!”

So if you’ve been trying the same approach for years to deal with your weight and food without relief, this could be the year you start to transform your relationship with food and your body for good.

Each day, month, and year that you start a new diet or vow to “work harder” and double down on your willpower, you're missing out on the real opportunity for lasting change.
